Amy Ahlert has been teaching privately to students for over twenty years. She has taught the art of voice and performance to students as “young” as sixty and as “old” as four. She has often worked with students with physical and cognitive disabilities.
Her unique approach keeps the students wanting to sing. It also instills confidence and poise. Proper breathing, lyric interpretation, pitch recognition and diction are a part of each lesson.
Singers of all ages have performed in NYSSMA concerts, and were accepted in NYSSMA camps. Some have gone on to perform in commercials. Most have gotten leads in their school musicals. She can teach a wide variety of songs to kids and adults alike. Audition guidance is available, including help with scripts.
Amy teaches most genres of music including jazz (her specialty), theater, pop, country and soul.
*Some students taking private lessons may have the opportunity to perform at some of the venues where Ms. Ahlert conducts her music education programs for Senior Citizens. They may be able to receive Community Service credit for rehearsal lesson and performance hours. Ask for details. It’s a great opportunity, fun and educational!*
